Equity Crowdfunding 101: We're Live on StartEngine

Modern life depends on infrastructure. Zirconia protects it with high-performance coatings that durably preserve concrete from corrosion. Here is how Regulation Crowdfunding opened early-stage investing to everyday investors.

Status update: Zirconia's public StartEngine raise has closed. We are not currently running a public raise. Any future capital is expected to come from private equity or institutional partners. The information below is general background on Regulation Crowdfunding and is not an offer to invest.

Infrastructure underpins everything

From the moment you wake up each morning, infrastructure is working for you: food, water, sanitation, transportation, electricity. Every pillar of modern living depends on it.

Zirconia preserves that modern way of life by protecting the infrastructure it runs on, with high-performance coatings that durably shield concrete from corrosion.

We use innovative coating science to create surfaces that perform better, which results in safer food and water, lower greenhouse gas emissions, and less toxicity entering the environment.

Zirconia previously raised growth capital through equity crowdfunding on StartEngine , giving like-minded people who share our vision for safer, longer-lasting, and more environmentally sustainable infrastructure a way to take part. That public raise has since closed.

Why equity crowdfunding?

What if you could have invested in early-stage companies such as Apple, Amazon, or Uber before they went public?

Regulation Crowdfunding (Reg CF) has made that possible. It freed up the ability for platforms to allow any company to raise money from any person, regardless of how much money they earn.

Before this change, only wealthy venture capitalists and accredited investors, those with a net worth of at least $1 million or a minimum annual income of $200,000, could invest in startups and early-stage companies. Reg CF changed that, allowing businesses of all shapes and sizes to reach everyday investors.

Title III of the JOBS Act opened a doorway into a new method of fundraising for startups, allowing companies to raise up to $5 million per year (up from the previous cap of $1.07 million). This is an incredible moment for small businesses, and the growth potential across the globe is significant.

Zirconia took advantage of the opportunities that Reg CF put in place by raising growth capital on the StartEngine platform.

Our approach to capital going forward

At Zirconia, our mission is to develop products that support more environmentally sustainable infrastructure, industry, and the built environment as a whole.

We are an advanced materials company that offers eco-friendly coatings and other technologies that replace the need for older, toxic products. Our green technology solutions are designed around a deep understanding of the real challenges facing infrastructure and industry.

We are building the foundation for the next generation of green infrastructure. Our earlier StartEngine raise helped fund that work, and we are grateful to everyone who took part.

We are not currently running a public raise. Any future capital is expected to come from private equity or institutional partners. We look forward to sharing future milestones and achievements with our community.
