Cool-Deck™

A reflective ceramic top-coat that manages heat at the slab. Applied over CeramycGuard™, it reflects near-infrared solar energy away from the surface rather than letting the concrete absorb it.

Built for slabs that sit in the sun

Concrete is very good at absorbing solar energy and very slow to give it back. On an exposed deck, a roof or a pool surround, that means a surface that heats through the day and holds the heat well past sunset, passing it into the structure and the space beneath.

Cool-Deck™ addresses that at the surface. It reflects near-infrared solar energy, the part of sunlight that does most of the heating, away from the slab instead of letting it pass into the concrete. Applied over a cured CeramycGuard™ base, it adds that reflective layer without giving up the corrosion protection underneath.

Three-product system

Restore the concrete. Seal it. Then reflect the heat.

Cool-Deck™ is the finish layer, not the whole answer. A reflective surface on concrete that is still corroding underneath solves the wrong problem. The stack restores the slab first, bonds a ceramic barrier to it, and only then adds the thermally active coat.

01

PoreBlocker™

Penetrates the capillary pore network and rebuilds the binder from within, converting the concrete's most vulnerable chemistry into durable C-A-S-H and preserving the alkaline reserve that keeps the reinforcing steel passivated.

02

CeramycGuard™

Bonds chemically into that restored surface rather than sitting on it, sealing the pore network and forming the ceramic barrier that keeps corrosive agents away from the steel beneath.

03

Cool-Deck™ top-coat

Applied over the cured CeramycGuard™ coat as the thermally active finish, reflecting near-infrared solar energy away from the slab so less of the sun's heat is absorbed into the structure.

Recommended uses

Where the Cool-Deck system is specified

Rooftop decks and plazas

Exposed upper surfaces that take direct sun all day and pass the absorbed heat into the occupied space below.

Pool surrounds and outdoor slabs

Walking surfaces where the temperature of the slab itself is what people notice, and where the concrete still has to resist water and chemical exposure.

Data center roofs and floors

Surfaces where solar heat gain adds directly to the cooling burden, and every degree the slab does not absorb is load the plant does not have to remove.

Equipment and process areas

Any slab where the temperature of the surface affects the equipment standing on it or the space immediately above it.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

How does Cool-Deck™ keep a slab cooler?

Most of the heat a concrete slab picks up from the sun arrives as near-infrared energy. An untreated slab absorbs it and holds it, which is why bare concrete stays warm long after the sun moves off it. Cool-Deck™ is a reflective ceramic finish that sends that near-infrared energy back off the surface instead, so less of it is absorbed into the concrete in the first place. It is a reflective mechanism, not an insulating one.

What surface temperature reduction can we expect?

That depends on your slab, your climate, your orientation and what sits above and below the surface, so we do not publish a single figure that would be wrong for most projects. Talk to our technical team with the details of your structure and we will give you an answer for your application rather than a general number.

Does Cool-Deck™ work without CeramycGuard™ underneath?

No. Cool-Deck™ is the finish layer of a system. PoreBlocker™ restores and densifies the concrete from within, CeramycGuard™ bonds chemically to that restored surface and seals the pore network against corrosion, and Cool-Deck™ goes on top as the thermally active layer. The reflective performance is the top-coat, but the durability underneath it is what keeps that surface intact.

Is Cool-Deck™ the same as CG HeatShield™?

No, and they solve different problems. CG HeatShield™ is built for fire exposure and extreme radiant heat, the kind that comes off flame or high-temperature industrial process equipment. Cool-Deck™ is built for solar load on exposed slabs, where the issue is a surface sitting in the sun all day rather than a short, intense heat event. If you are unsure which applies to your structure, our technical team will tell you.
