The concrete repair and protection system for driveways, walkways, patios and pool decks, built around the ConcreteCare CS-01™ sealer. Restore. Preserve. Protect.
A new job to sell the customers you already have.
The ConcreteCare Ceramic Shield System™ is a three-layer system that restores,
preserves and protects residential concrete. It is engineered for 1L concrete, the
low-strength mix used for most American driveways and sidewalks, and it rebuilds weak
concrete from the inside while protecting it at the surface. Zirconia does not take
residential work. The system is sold through retailers and installed by contractors.
If you already coat garage floors, this is the same crew, the same day rate and the
same customer, extended to the driveway, the walkway, the patio and the pool deck.
Most residential coatings sit on top of the concrete and eventually peel, which is why
exterior flatwork has been a hard sell. ConcreteCare is different: the first two layers
bond chemically into the concrete itself, so only the top Shield is ever refreshed. The
whole system is 100% water-based, with low odor and low VOC.
Resists oil, brake fluid, antifreeze and road salt
UV stable, will not yellow or chalk
100% water-based across all three layers, low odor
Natural matte concrete look, no plastic shine
How it works
A three-layer system that restores and protects
01 · Restorer
ActiveCure™ (new concrete) or PoreBlocker™ (existing concrete)
Penetrates deep into the concrete and rebuilds the matrix from the inside. Permanent and chemically bonded.
02 · Sealer
ConcreteCare CS-01™ penetrating sealer
Locks in the restoration and adds a hydrophobic barrier, bonding chemically to the restored cement matrix.
03 · Shield
Ceramic Shield™ with ceramic grit
A tough, slip-resistant topcoat that protects against UV, abrasion, oil, hot tires, salt and weathering.
What to expect
A typical project: three working days of applicator presence
Day 1 (cool morning)Surface preparation, then the Restorer is applied to a surface that is damp but with no standing water (known as saturated surface-dry).
Days 2 to 4 (1 to 3 days)Polymerization window: the Restorer cures and rebuilds the concrete from within. No applicator presence required.
Next dayLight pressure wash and dry.
Final day (cool morning)Sealer applied and allowed to tack, then the Ceramic Shield with grit is applied wet-on-tacky.
After the Shield is applied: safe for light foot traffic in 24 hours, and safe for vehicle drive-on traffic after 7 days.
See the ConcreteCare Ceramic Shield System™ Technical Data Sheet for complete application specifications.
Why it lasts
Built to restore, preserve and protect
Restores instead of replacing
Weak, dusting or aged concrete is rebuilt from the inside with no tear-out. The Restorer converts the waste calcium hydroxide left over from cement hydration, roughly 20% of the cement mass, into durable C-A-S-H binder. The usual route with a failed driveway has been to break it out and pour a new one.
Preserves the binder
Stabilizes the cement binder against carbonation, salt and aging, so the concrete stops deteriorating from the inside out.
Protects the surface
A UV-stable, hydrophobic, ceramic-reinforced finish resists water, salt, oil, hot tires and slip hazards.
Permanently bonded base
The first two layers bond chemically into the concrete itself, so when the top Shield eventually wears, only that layer is recoated.
Water beading
A hydrophobic finish means water rolls off and de-icing chemicals can simply be rinsed away.
Chemical resistant
Driveway spills of motor oil, brake fluid, antifreeze and road salt wipe clean without permanent staining.
Freeze-thaw compatible
The restored matrix holds its water chemically (as coordination water) while the surface film keeps new water out, resisting winter cracking and salt scaling.
Breathable
Allows water vapor to escape from the substrate, so it will not trap moisture or blister the way epoxy coatings can.
The chemistry behind it
A modern revival of Roman cement
Zirconia's Ceramic Surface Treatment technology is a modern revival of Roman cement,
the same family of chemistry behind the Colosseum and Pantheon. The ConcreteCare
Ceramic Shield System™ applies that approach to driveways, walkways, patios and pool decks.
