# Zirconia Inc > Zirconia Inc is an advanced materials company whose CeramycGuard™ inorganic Ceramic Surface Treatment chemically bonds to concrete and cures at room temperature, turning the concrete surface itself into a dense ceramic that ends the corrosion cycle. Epoxy and urethane coatings adhere to the surface and eventually peel; CeramycGuard™ becomes part of the concrete, so it does not depend on surface adhesion to stay put. Zirconia Inc (legal name Zirconia Engineered Surfaces) is based in Tukwila, Washington and serves infrastructure and industrial projects nationwide. The underlying research began in 1998 with Professor Dr. P. Balaguru at Rutgers University. CeramycGuard™ holds Miami-Dade County approval (NOA No. 24-0626.03, "CeramycGuard Inorganic Polymer Concrete Coating, Anti-Salt Corrosion Barrier", valid to 28 March 2029), and the technology is proven on real projects including Tyson Foods, the City of Sacramento water reservoir, and Columbia Distribution. CeramycGuard™ is made in the United States with no imported materials. ## How the products fit together Most Zirconia specifications follow three stages. Stage 1, restore: alumina-doped penetrating treatments rebuild the concrete matrix from within. ActiveCure for new concrete, applied once the slab is firm enough to walk on, usually 4 to 12 hours after the pour. PoreBlocker for existing concrete. Stage 2, protect: CeramycGuard, a ceramic surface treatment that chemically bonds to the restored concrete. Miami-Dade NOA 24-0626.03. Stage 3, topcoats and specialty: BulletProof, Fortress XD, AquaGuard, CrossLinker and CG HeatShield, selected by exposure. With CeramycGuard these form the TruComposite system family.
